Category 6 will accept the higher bandwith as streaming video and multi media become comonplace. What is the difference between cat 5 and cat 6. The general difference between cat 5 and cat 6 is in the transmission performance, and extension of the available bandwith from 100 MHz for cat 5e to 200 MHz for cat 6.

This includes better insertion loss, near end crosstalk, return loss, and equal level far end crosstalk.
